TEACHING

The hydraulics laboratory has been operating in the building on 28 Bariţiu Street since 1980. It was established for the CCIA and CFDP sections of the Faculty of Construction.

Initially, the equipment of the laboratory was designed to exemplify the theory from the discipline Hydraulics and building constructions (for CCIA), respectively Hydraulics of bridges and floors (for CFDP).

After the year 2000, with the establishment of the Master's course Water Resources Management, a process of modernization and equipping with stands to meet the newly emerging needs by diversifying the disciplines and education plans began.

After the authorization of the hydrotechnical engineering and construction specialization, this process continues in the sense of modernizing the laboratory with new stands and equipment to complement the existing ones.

Currently, in the hydraulics laboratory there is the possibility of exemplifying and modeling a multitude of hydraulic phenomena, some of them being  briefly presented in the following:

  • Basic hydraulic stand

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_      Stand portabil ce serves the accessories below. Features: light material, anti-corrosive, mobility on wheels, volumetric measurement, horizontal adjustment, drain valve, overflow, feed basin with adjustable centrifugal pump, easy attachment of accessories.

  • Hydrostatic forces

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_      Accesoriul permite determinarea by mechanical means (pivotal balance) of the center of pressure for a partially or totally submersible flat surface in a pool of water  and comparing the results with those obtained theoretically.

  • Flow over spillways

Accessory that allows the study of the flow over two types of weirs with thin rectangular and triangular walls, the determination of the flow coefficients for variable loads and the comparison of the results with the theoretical ones.

  • Bernoulli's theorem demonstration - The equipment allows the demonstration / limitation of Bernoulli's theorem for piezometric and energy lines with a transparent converging acrylic Venturi  tube using pressure measurements along the tube through 8 closed piezometric outlets and comparing them with indications of the monometer at variable flow rates.

  • Distributed load losses

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_      Echipamentul permite măsurarea of the longitudinal pressure losses in a vertical pipe fed from the main stand, the hydraulic pressure being measured with the help of two piezometers.

  • Local load losses

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_      Echipamentul independent permite the study of local pressure losses in fittings allowing different flow regimes and the calculation of local pressure loss coefficients. The equipment is supplied with water from the base stand.

  • Groundwater flow

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_      Standul constă dintr -a transparent infiltration basin  mounted on a rigid metal frame, supply control valves, two tubes acting as extraction wells.

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_      Standul permite studiul infiltrations through porous media and the determination of the characteristic hydraulic elements: hydraulic gradients, the influence of permeability, the shape of depression cones for a single well or two extraction wells in an aquifer with a free level.

  • Flow through channels

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_      Ministandul serveşte studiului of free-level currents in a transparent channel allowing the visualization of the flow at various regimes in the channel associated with the flow over thin-edge weirs located downstream of the channel.
